And in the reign of Ahasue´rus, in the beginning of his reign, wrote they unto him an accusation against the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem.
Now it came to pass in the days of Ahasue´rus, (this is Ahasue´rus which reigned from India even unto Ethiopia, over a hundred and seven and twenty provinces,)
children in whom was no blemish, but well-favored, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king's palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chalde´ans.
Also I in the first year of Dari´us the Mede, even I, stood to confirm and to strengthen him.
And Dari´us the Me´di-an took the kingdom, being about threescore and two years old.
It pleased Dari´us to set over the kingdom a hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom;
So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Dari´us, and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.
