And it came to pass after these things, that one told Joseph, Behold, thy father is sick: and he took with him his two sons, Manas´seh and E´phra-im.


And when Jacob had made an end of commanding his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, and yielded up the ghost, and was gathered unto his people.


And the Lord sent against him bands of the Chaldees, and bands of the Syrians, and bands of the Moabites, and bands of the children of Ammon, and sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of the Lord, which he spake by his servants the prophets.


But it came to pass, when Ahab was dead, that the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel.


And he went and sent to Jehosh´aphat the king of Judah, saying, The king of Moab hath rebelled against me: wilt thou go with me against Moab to battle? And he said, I will go up: I am as thou art, my people as thy people, and my horses as thy horses.


And the Syrians had gone out by companies, and had brought away captive out of the land of Israel a little maid; and she waited on Na´aman's wife.


And he prepared great provision for them: and when they had eaten and drunk, he sent them away, and they went to their master. So the bands of Syria came no more into the land of Israel.


And they buried him in the city of David among the kings, because he had done good in Israel, both toward God, and toward his house.


Your fathers, where are they? and the prophets, do they live for ever?


And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.
