And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.


Come now therefore, and let us slay him, and cast him into some pit, and we will say, Some evil beast has devoured him: and we shall see what will become of his dreams.


Thus says the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despises, to him whom the nation abhors, to a servant of rulers, Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the LORD who is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, and he has chosen you.


Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked by the wise men, was exceedingly angry, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the region thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men.


And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the tenants, that they might receive the fruits of it.


And they sought to lay hold on him, but feared the people: for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: and they left him, and went their way.


Having yet therefore one son, his wellbeloved, he sent him also last unto them, saying, They will respect my son.


And they took him, and killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard.


Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, you have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:


Saying, Did not we strictly command you that you should not teach in this name? and, behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us.


Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them who showed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom you have been now the betrayers and murderers:


Has in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he has appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
