He calls to the heavens above, to the earth, that he may judge his people:
Hear, heavens, and listen, earth; for the LORD has spoken: I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.
You, son of man, prophesy to the mountains of Yisra'el, and say, You mountains of Yisra'el, hear the word of the LORD.
But you, mountains of Yisra'el, you shall shoot forth your branches, and yield your fruit to my people Yisra'el; for they are at hand to come.
Again he said to me, Prophesy over these bones, and tell them, you dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.
and say, You mountains of Yisra'el, hear the word of the Lord GOD: Thus says the Lord GOD to the mountains and to the hills, to the watercourses and to the valleys: Behold, I, even I, will bring a sword on you, and I will destroy your high places.
Hear this word that the LORD has spoken against you, children of Yisra'el, against the whole family which I brought up out of the land of Egypt, saying:
Hear, you peoples, all of you. Listen, O earth, and all that is therein: and let the Lord GOD be witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple.
The mountains melt under him, and the valleys split apart, like wax before the fire, like waters that are poured down a steep place.
I will execute vengeance in anger, and wrath on the nations that didn't listen.*
Hear, you mountains, the LORD's controversy, and you enduring foundations of the earth; for the LORD has a controversy with his people, and he will contend with Yisra'el.
He answered them, *I tell you that if these were silent, the stones would cry out.*
Give ear, you heavens, and I will speak. Let the earth hear the words of my mouth.
I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that you shall soon utterly perish from off the land whereunto you go over the Yarden to possess it; you shall not prolong your days on it, but shall utterly be destroyed.
Now therefore stand still, that I may plead with you before the LORD concerning all the righteous acts of the LORD, which he did to you and to your fathers.
Then Shemu'el said to Sha'ul, Stay, and I will tell you what the LORD has said to me this night. He said to him, Say on.
