Now when Yeshua was born in Beit-Lechem of Yehudah in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Yerushalayim, saying,


Great multitudes from the Galil, Decapolis, Yerushalayim, Yehudah and from beyond the Yarden followed him.


All the country of Yehudah and all those of Yerushalayim went out to him. They were immersed by him in the Yarden river, confessing their sins.


The Torah and the Prophets were until Yochanan. From that time the Good News of the Kingdom of God is preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it.


He came into all the region around the Yarden, preaching the immersion of repentance for remission of sins.


He said therefore to the multitudes who went out to be immersed by him, *You offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?


Yochanan also was immersing in Einayim near Shalem, because there was much water there. They came, and were immersed.


He was the burning and shining lamp, and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light.
