The Lord said, *Because this people draws near with their mouth and with their lips to honor me, but they have removed their heart far from me, and their fear of me is a mitzvah of men which has been taught;


You have said, 'It is vain to serve God;' and 'What profit is it that we have kept his charge, and that we have walked mournfully before the LORD of Armies?


And in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrine rules made by men.'*


In praying, don't use vain repetitions, as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard for their much speaking.


If Messiah has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain, and your faith also is in vain.
