The scepter will not depart from Yehudah, nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs. To him will the obedience of the peoples be.


At that time, Herod the tetrarch heard the report concerning Yeshua,


For Herod had laid hold of Yochanan, and bound him, and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife.


But when Herod's birthday came, the daughter of Herodias danced among them and pleased Herod.


Tell us therefore, what do you think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?*


and they bound him, and led him away, and delivered him up to Pontius Pilate, the governor.


For Herod himself had sent out and arrested Yochanan, and bound him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife, for he had married her.


Then a convenient day came, that Herod on his birthday made a supper for his nobles, the high officers, and the chief men of the Galil.

Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by him; and he was very perplexed, because it was said by some that Yochanan had risen from the dead,
