He called the name of that place Beit-El, but the name of the city was Luz at the first.


It happened that when David had come to the top [of the ascent], where God was worshiped, behold, Chushai the Arki came to meet him with his coat torn, and dirt on his head.


So Chushai, David's friend, came into the city; and Avshalom came into Yerushalayim.


It happened, when Chushai the Arki, David's friend, was come to Avshalom, that Chushai said to Avshalom, [Long] live the king, [Long] live the king.


Achitofel was the king's counselor: and Chushai the Arki was the king's friend:


Their possessions and habitations were Beit-El and the towns of it, and eastward Naaran, and westward Gezer, with the towns of it; Shekhem also and the towns of it, to Azzah and the towns of it;


The border passed along from there to Luz, to the side of Luz (the same is Beit-El), southward; and the border went down to `Atarot-Addar, by the mountain that lies on the south of Beit-Choron the lower.
