It happened that when David had come to the top [of the ascent], where God was worshiped, behold, Chushai the Arki came to meet him with his coat torn, and dirt on his head.


but if you return to the city, and tell Avshalom, I will be your servant, O king; as I have been your father's servant in time past, so will I now be your servant; then will you defeat for me the counsel of Achitofel.


So Chushai, David's friend, came into the city; and Avshalom came into Yerushalayim.


For he is gone down this day, and has slain oxen and fatlings and sheep in abundance, and has called all the king's sons, and the captains of the army, and Avyatar the Kohen; and behold, they are eating and drinking before him, and say, [Long] live king Adoniyahu.


and let Tzadok the Kohen and Natan the prophet anoint him there king over Yisra'el; and blow you the shofar, and say, [Long] live king Shlomo.


and `Azaryah the son of Natan was over the officers; and Zavud the son of Natan was chief minister, [and] the king's friend;


Then he brought out the king's son, and put the crown on him, and [gave him] the testimony; and they made him king, and anointed him; and they clapped their hands, and said, [Long] live the king.


Then spoke the Kasdim to the king in the Syrian language, O king, live forever: tell your servants the dream, and we will show the interpretation.


[Now] the queen by reason of the words of the king and his lords came into the banquet house: the queen spoke and said, O king, live forever; don't let your thoughts trouble you, nor let your face be changed.

Then these presidents and satraps assembled together to the king, and said thus to him, King Daryavesh, live forever.


The multitudes who went before him, and who followed kept shouting, *Hoshia`na to the son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hoshia`na in the highest!*


Shemu'el said to all the people, *You see him whom the LORD has chosen, that there is none like him among all the people?* All the people shouted, and said, [Long] live the king.
