Avraham took Yishma'el his son, all who were born in his house, and all who were bought with his money; every male among the men of Avraham's house, and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin in the same day, as God had said to him.


Now `Efron was sitting in the middle of the children of Chet. `Efron the Chittite answered Avraham in the hearing of the children of Chet, even of all who went in at the gate of his city, saying,


to Avraham for a possession in the presence of the children of Chet, before all who went in at the gate of his city.


Won't their livestock and their possessions and all their animals be ours? Only let us give our consent to them, and they will dwell with us.*


*Don't give that which is holy to the dogs, neither throw your pearls before the pigs, lest perhaps they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.


Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the mitzvot of God.
