Yisra'el stretched out his right hand, and laid it on Efrayim's head, who was the younger, and his left hand on Menasheh's head, guiding his hands knowingly, for Menasheh was the firstborn.


He blessed them that day, saying, *In you will Yisra'el bless, saying, 'God make you as Efrayim and as Menasheh'* He set Efrayim before Menasheh.


When king David came to Bachurim, behold, a man of the family of the house of Sha'ul came out, whose name was Shim`i, the son of Gera. He came out, and cursed still as he came.


But Avishai the son of Tzeru'yah answered, Shall Shim`i not be put to death for this, because he cursed the LORD's anointed?

I will go and return to my place, until they acknowledge their offense, and seek my face. In their affliction they will seek me earnestly.*


I know Efrayim, and Yisra'el is not hidden from me; for now, Efrayim, you have played the prostitute. Yisra'el is defiled.
