In this manner Avshalom did to all Yisra'el who came to the king for judgment: so Avshalom stole the hearts of the men of Yisra'el.


So the people went out into the field against Yisra'el: and the battle was in the forest of Efrayim.


For the battle was there spread over the surface of all the country; and the forest devoured more people that day than the sword devoured.


The battle was very severe that day: and Aviner was beaten, and the men of Yisra'el, before the servants of David.


Then Aviner called to Yo'av, and said, *Shall the sword devour forever? Don't you know that it will be bitterness in the latter end? How long shall it be then, before you bid the people return from following their brothers?*


But the servants of David had struck of Binyamin, and of Aviner's men, [so that] three hundred sixty men died.


For Pekach the son of Remalyahu killed in Yehudah one hundred twenty thousand in one day, all of them valiant men; because they had forsaken the LORD, the God of their fathers.


You are he who gives salvation to kings, who rescues David, his servant, from the deadly sword.


Most certainly, the evil man will not be unpunished, but the seed of the righteous will be delivered.
