David comforted Bat-Sheva his wife, and went in to her, and lay with her: and she bore a son, and he called his name Shlomo. The LORD loved him;


Now Yo'av fought against Rabbah of the children of `Ammon, and took the royal city.


It happened the same night, that the word of the LORD came to Natan, saying,


Then Natan spoke to Bat-Sheva the mother of Shlomo, saying, Haven't you heard that Adoniyahu the son of Chaggit reigns, and David our lord doesn't know it?


They told the king, saying, Behold, Natan the prophet. When he was come in before the king, he bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.


But Tzadok the Kohen, and Benayah the son of Yehoiada, and Natan the prophet, and Shim`i, and Re`i, and the mighty men who belonged to David, were not with Adoniyahu.


and `Azaryah the son of Natan was over the officers; and Zavud the son of Natan was chief minister, [and] the king's friend;


Behold, a son shall be born to you, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about; for his name shall be Shlomo, and I will give shalom and quietness to Yisra'el in his days:


and these were born to him in Yerushalayim: Shim`a, and Shovav, and Natan, and Shlomo, four, of Bat-Shua the daughter of `Ammi'el;


Did not Shlomo king of Yisra'el sin by these things? yet among many nations was there no king like him, and he was beloved of his God, and God made him king over all Yisra'el: nevertheless even him did foreign women cause to sin.


While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them. Behold, a voice came out of the cloud, saying, *This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Listen to him.*


Behold, a voice out of the heavens said, *This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.*


Of Binyamin he said, The beloved of the LORD shall dwell in safety by him. He covers him all the day long. He dwells between his shoulders.
