Then king Yeho'ash called for Yehoiada the Kohen, and for the [other] Kohanim, and said to them, Why don't you repair the breaches of the house? now therefore take no [more] money from your acquaintance, but deliver it for the breaches of the house.
He gathered together the Kohanim and the Levites, and said to them, Go out to the cities of Yehudah, and gather of all Yisra'el money to repair the house of your God from year to year; and see that you hasten the matter. However the Levites didn't hurry.
But the Kohanim were too few, so that they could not flay all the burnt offerings: therefore their brothers the Levites helped them, until the work was ended, and until the Kohanim had sanctified themselves; for the Levites were more upright in heart to sanctify themselves than the Kohanim.
