This gift is from God, and it is very important to me. Why? Because if law could make us right with God, then Christ did not have to die.
Hebrews 7:11 - Easy To Read Version People were given the law {\cf2\super [62]} under the system of priests from the Levi family group. {\cf2\super [63]} But people could not be made spiritually perfect through that system of priests. So there was a need for another priest to come. I mean a priest that is like Melchizedek, {\cf2\super [64]} not Aaron. {\cf2\super [65]} Tuilleadh leaganachaKing James Version (Oxford) 1769 If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron? Amplified Bible - Classic Edition Now if perfection (a perfect fellowship between God and the worshiper) had been attainable by the Levitical priesthood–for under it the people were given the Law–why was it further necessary that there should arise another and different kind of Priest, one after the order of Melchizedek, rather than one appointed after the order and rank of Aaron? American Standard Version (1901) Now if there was perfection through the Levitical priesthood (for under it hath the people received the law), what further need was there that another priest should arise after the order of Melchizedek, and not be reckoned after the order of Aaron? Common English Bible So if perfection came through the levitical office of priest (for the people received the Law under the priests), why was there still a need to speak about raising up another priest according to the order of Melchizedek rather than one according to the order of Aaron? It is the same for us. We were once like children. We were slaves to the useless rules of this world.
But now you know the true God. Really, it is God who knows you. So why do you turn back to those weak and useless rules you followed before? Do you want to be slaves to those things again?
And God made Jesus the high priest, {\cf2\super [42]} the same as Melchizedek. {\cf2\super [43]}
And in another part \{of the Scriptures {\cf2\super [40]} \} God says,
Jesus has already entered there and opened the way for us. Jesus has become the high priest {\cf2\super [52]} forever, the same as Melchizedek. {\cf2\super [53]}

And when a different kind of priest comes, then the law must be changed too.
We are saying these things about Christ. He belonged to a different family group. No person from that family group ever served \{as a priest\} at the altar. {\cf2\super [66]}
And these things become even more clear. We see that another priest (Jesus) comes who is like Melchizedek. {\cf2\super [68]}
If there was nothing wrong with the first agreement, {\cf2\super [86]} then there would be no need for a second agreement.
Everything in the tent was made ready in the way I have explained. Then the priests went into the first room every day to do their worship.
