God said to him, “I am God All-Powerful. [208] {And I give you this blessing:} Have many children and grow into a great nation. Other nations and other kings will come out of you.


The total number of Jacob’s direct descendants [248] that went with him to Egypt was 66 people. (The wives of Jacob’s sons were not counted in this number.)


But you are not the one that I have chosen to build the temple. Your son will build my temple!’


And in another part \{of the Scriptures {\cf2\super [40]} \} God says,


People were given the law {\cf2\super [62]} under the system of priests from the Levi family group. {\cf2\super [63]} But people could not be made spiritually perfect through that system of priests. So there was a need for another priest to come. I mean a priest that is like Melchizedek, {\cf2\super [64]} not Aaron. {\cf2\super [65]}


Now the law says that people in the family group {\cf2\super [60]} of Levi who become priests must get one-tenth from the people. The priests collect it from their own people (the Jews), even though the priests and their people are both from the family of Abraham.


It is Levi who gets one-tenth \{from the people\}. But we can say that when Abraham paid Melchizedek one-tenth, then Levi also paid it.
