Laban said, “In our country we do not allow the younger daughter to marry before the older daughter.


Joseph’s brothers sat at a table in front of him. The brothers were sitting in order, from the oldest brother to the youngest. All the brothers kept looking at each other, wondering what was happening.


Joseph saw that his father put his right hand on Ephraim’s head. This didn’t make Joseph happy. Joseph took his father’s hand. He wanted to move it from Ephraim’s head and put it on Manasseh’s head.


But his father argued and said, “I know, son. I know. Manasseh is the firstborn. And he will be great. He will also be the father of many people. But the younger brother will be greater than the older brother. And the younger brother’s family will be much larger.”


“Reuben, my first son, you are my first child, the first proof of my power as a man. You were the most honored and powerful of all my sons.


The men can go worship the Lord. That is what you asked for in the beginning. But all of your people can’t go.” Then Pharaoh sent Moses and Aaron away.


“The wise girls answered, ‘No! The oil we have might not be enough for all of us. But go to the people that sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’
