The Angel said, “Hagar, you are Sarai’s servant. Why are you here? Where are you going?”


The Lord God called to the man and said, “Where are you?”


When Elijah heard the voice [213] he used his coat to cover his face. Then he went and stood at the entrance to the cave. Then a voice said to him, “Elijah, why are you here?”


People of Judah, think about this:\par Did it help to go to Egypt?\par Did it help to drink\par from the Nile River? No!\par Did it help to go to Assyria?\par Did it help to drink from\par the Euphrates River? No!\par


If only I had a place in the desert,\par a house where travelers spend the night,\par I could leave my people.\par I could go away from those people.\par Why? Because they are all unfaithful to God.\par They have all turned against him.\par


\{Jonah was still angry about all these things.\} So he went out of the city. Jonah went to a place near the city on the east side. Jonah made a shelter for himself. Then he sat there in the shade, waiting to see what would happen to the city.


The world was not good enough for these great people. These people wandered in deserts and mountains, living in caves and holes in the ground.
