Now, my lord and king, all the people of Israel are watching you. They are waiting for you to decide who will be the next king after you.


King Solomon commanded them to cut out big, expensive stones to be the foundation for the temple. These stones were carefully cut.


“You remember that my father, King David, had to fight many wars all around him. So he was never able to build a temple to honor the Lord his God. King David was waiting until the Lord allowed him to defeat all his enemies.


But you are not the one that I have chosen to build the temple. Your son will build my temple!’


But God said to me, ‘No David, you must not build a house for my name. You must not do that because you are a soldier, and you have killed many men.’


You must wash all of your clothes. You must wash anything made with leather, wool, or wood. You must become pure.”


On the seventh day you must wash all of your clothes. Then you will become pure. After that you can come into camp.”
