Now therefore, behold, the children of Ammon, and of Moab, and mount Seir (through whose lands thou didst not allow Israel to pass, when they came out of Egypt, but they turned aside from them, and slew them not)


And he would not grant that Israel should pass by his borders: but rather gathering an army, went forth to meet them in the desert, and came to Jasa, and fought against them.


And they marched from mount Hor, by the way that leadeth to the Red Sea, to compass the land of Edom. And the people began to be weary of their journey and labour.


We will pass through thy land: we will go along by the highway: we will not turn aside neither to the right hand nor to the left.


As the children of Esau have done, that dwell in Seir, and the Moabites, that abide in Ar: until we come to the Jordan, and pass to the land which the Lord our God will give us.


Thou shalt not abhor the Edomite, because he is thy brother: nor the Egyptian, because thou wast a stranger in his land.


And he sent messengers to the king of Edom, saying: Suffer me to pass through thy land. But he would not condescend to his request. He sent also to the king of Moab, who likewise refused to give him passage. He abode therefore in Cades:


And went round the land of Edom at the side, and the land of Moab: and came over against the east coast of the land of Moab: and camped on the other side of the Arnon. And he would not enter the bounds of Moab, for the Arnon is the border of the lands of Moab.


Are not those things which thy god Chamos possesseth due to thee by right? But what the Lord our God hath obtained by conquest shall be our possession.
