Abraham removed from thence to the south country, and dwelt between Cedes and Sur, and sojourned in Gerara.


And Abimelech, and Phicol, the general of his army, arose and returned to the land of the Palestines. But Abraham planted a grove in Bersabee, and there called upon the name of the Lord God eternal.


They passed near the walls of Tyre, and all the land of the Hevite, and the Chanaanite: and they came to the south of Juda into Bersabee.


These are the names of the men, whom Moses sent to view the land: and he called Osee the son of Nun, Josue.


So Josue conquered all the country of the hills and of the south and of the plain, and of Asedoth, with their kings. He left not any remains therein, but slew all that breathed, as the Lord the God of Israel had commanded him,


Divide to yourselves the land into seven parts. Let Juda be in his bounds on the south side, and the house of Joseph on the north.
