For I do not do the good that I want to do, but I practise the evil that I do not want to do.

For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.

For I fail to practice the good deeds I desire to do, but the evil deeds that I do not desire to do are what I am [ever] doing.

For the good which I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I practise.

I don’t do the good that I want to do, but I do the evil that I don’t want to do.

For I do not do the good that I want to do. But instead, I do the evil that I do not want to do.

For the good which I will, I do not; but the evil which I will not, that I do.

Night and day among the tombs and on the mountains, he was always crying out and cutting himself with stones.

For I do not understand what I am doing, because I do not practise what I want to do, but I do what I hate.
