12 Tagairtí Cros

As a pregnant woman about to give birth writhes and cries out in her pains, so we were before you,  Lord.

After his anguish, he will see light  and be satisfied. By his knowledge, my righteous  servant  will justify many, and he will carry their iniquities.

‘Rejoice, childless one, who did not give birth; burst into song and shout, you who have not been in labour! For the children of the desolate one will be more than the children of the married woman,’ says the Lord.

A sound of uproar from the city! A voice from the temple – the voice of the  Lord, paying back his enemies what they deserve!

All these events are the beginning of labour pains.

When a woman is in labour, she has pain   because her time has come. But when she has given birth to a child,   she no longer remembers the suffering because of the joy that a person has been born into the world.

My children,  I am again suffering labour pains  for you until Christ is formed in you.

Its tail swept away a third of the stars in heaven and hurled them to the earth.  And the dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she did give birth it might devour her child.
