Did not the one who made me in the womb also make them? Did not the same God form us both in the womb?


God is not partial  to princes and does not favour the rich over the poor, for they are all the work of his hands.


The one who oppresses the poor person insults his Maker, but one who is kind to the needy honours him.


The poor and the oppressor have this in common: the Lord gives light to the eyes of both.


The eye cannot say to the hand, ‘I don’t need you! ’ Or again, the head can’t say to the feet, ‘I don’t need you! ’


The Lord brings poverty and gives wealth; he humbles and he exalts.
