Israel said to Joseph, ‘I never expected to see your face again, but now God has even let me see your offspring.’


He saw Ephraim’s sons to the third generation;  the sons of Manasseh’s son Machir were recognised by  , Joseph.


However, I will not do it during your lifetime for the sake of your father David;  I will tear it out of your son’s hand.


But for the sake of David, the Lord his God gave him a lamp  in Jerusalem by raising up his son after him and by preserving Jerusalem.


Honour your father and your mother  so that you may have a long life in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.


A good man leaves an inheritance to his   grandchildren, but the sinner’s wealth is stored up for the righteous.


Grey hair is a glorious crown; it is found in the ways of righteousness.


‘A son honours his father, and a servant his master. But if I am a father, where is my honour? And if I am a master, where is your fear of me?  says the Lord of Armies to you priests, who despise my name.’ Yet you ask, ‘How have we despised your name? ’
