You could not possibly do such a thing: to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. You could not possibly do that! Won’t the Judge of the whole earth do what is just? ’


‘Now get up! Go out and encourage  your soldiers, for I swear by the Lord that if you don’t go out, not a man will remain with you tonight.  This will be worse for you than all the trouble that has come to you from your youth until now! ’


As for me, even though I am the anointed king, I have little power today. These men, the sons of Zeruiah, are too fierce for me.  May the Lord repay the evildoer according to his evil! ’


Acquitting the guilty and condemning the just   – both are detestable to the  Lord.


It is not good to show partiality to the guilty, denying an innocent person justice.


Now, daughter who is under attack, you slash yourself in grief; a siege is set against us! They are striking the judge  of Israel on the cheek with a rod.
