‘Your name will no longer be Jacob,’  he said. ‘It will be Israel  because you have struggled with God  and with men and have prevailed.’


In Judah, it was said: The strength of the labourer fails, since there is so much rubble. We will never be able to rebuild the wall.


And our enemies said, ‘They won’t realise it  until we’re among them and can kill them and stop the work.’


He frustrates the schemes of the crafty so that they   achieve no success.


The Lord’s eyes keep watch over knowledge, but he overthrows the words of the treacherous.


Stay awake and pray, so that you won’t enter into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.’


But be alert at all times,   praying that you may have strength   to escape   all these things that are going to take place and to stand before the Son of Man.’


Be sober-minded,  be alert.  Your adversary the devil  is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for anyone he can devour.
