Evening came and then morning: the third day.


Evening came and then morning: the fourth day.


Evening came and then morning: the fifth day.


God called the light ‘day’, and the darkness he called ‘night’. There was an evening, and there was a morning: one day.


God called the expanse ‘sky’.  Evening came and then morning: the second day.


‘Truly I tell you,’ Jesus said to him, ‘tonight, before the cock crows, you will deny me three times.’


Therefore be alert,   since you don’t know when the master   of the house is coming #– #whether in the evening or at midnight or at the crowing of the cock or early in the morning.


Peter  told him, ‘Even if everyone falls away, I will not.’


But he kept insisting, ‘If I have to die with you, I will never deny you.’ And they all said the same thing.


‘I tell you, Peter,’ he said, ‘the cock will not crow today until   you deny three times that you know me.’


Jesus replied, ‘Will you lay down your life for me? Truly I tell you, a cock will not crow until you have denied me three times.


Then the servant girl who was the doorkeeper said to Peter, ‘You aren’t one of this man’s disciples too, are you? ’ ‘I am not,’ he said.


So, whoever thinks he stands must be careful not to fall.
