Jesus answered him, ‘Allow it for now, because this is the way for us to fulfil all righteousness.’ Then John allowed him to be baptised.
In the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth,
Both were righteous in God’s sight, living blamelessly according to all the commands and requirements of the Lord.
Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family line of David,
Then he went down with them and came to Nazareth and was obedient to them. His mother kept all these things in her heart.
He came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. As usual, he entered the synagogue on the Sabbath day and stood up to read.
Then he said to them, ‘No doubt you will quote this proverb to me: “Doctor, heal yourself. What we’ve heard that took place in Capernaum, do here in your home town also.” ’
