I know that you always hear me, but because of the crowd standing here I said this, so that they may believe you sent me.’
The dead man came out bound hand and foot with linen strips and with his face wrapped in a cloth. Jesus said to them, ‘Unwrap him and let him go.’
Six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany where Lazarus was, the one Jesus had raised from the dead.
Then a large crowd of the Jews learned he was there. They came not only because of Jesus but also to see Lazarus, the one he had raised from the dead.
When Peter saw this, he addressed the people: ‘Fellow Israelites, why are you amazed at this? Why do you stare at us, as though we had made him walk by our own power or godliness?
But Peter said, ‘I don’t have silver or gold, but what I do have, I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, get up and walk! ’
Peter said to him, ‘Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you. Get up and make your bed,’ and immediately he got up.
Peter sent them all out of the room. He knelt down, prayed, and turning towards the body said, ‘Tabitha, get up.’ She opened her eyes, saw Peter, and sat up.
