He is a well-watered plant in the sunshine; his shoots spread out over his garden.


When its branches dry out, they will be broken off. Women will come and make fires with them, for they are not a people with understanding. Therefore their Maker  will not have compassion on them, and their Creator will not be gracious to them.


I planted you, a choice vine from the very best seed. How then could you turn into a degenerate, foreign vine?


I will punish you according to what you have done   – this is the  Lord’s declaration. I will kindle a fire in your forest that will consume everything around it.” ’


Therefore, this is what the Lord God says: ‘Look, my anger #– #my burning wrath #– #is about to be poured out on this place,  on people and animals, on the tree of the field, and on the produce of the land. My wrath will burn and not be quenched.’


His new branches will spread, and his splendour will be like the olive tree, his fragrance, like the forest of Lebanon.


The axe is already at the root of the trees. Therefore, every tree that doesn’t produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.


If anyone does not remain in me, he is thrown aside   like a branch and he withers. They gather them, throw them into the fire,   and they are burned.


You will have olive trees throughout your territory but not moisten your skin with oil, because your olives will drop off.


These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands that stand before the Lord  of the earth.
