‘We will go on the main road,’ the Israelites replied to them, ‘and if we or our herds drink your water, we will pay its price.  There will be no problem; only let us travel through on foot.’


Therefore, whatever you want others to do for you, do also the same for them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.


Do not repay anyone evil for evil.  Give careful thought to do what is honourable  in everyone’s eyes.


Don’t provoke them, for I will not give you any of their land, not even a foot of it,  because I have given Esau the hill country of Seir as his possession.


For the Lord your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands.  He has watched over your journey through this immense wilderness. The Lord your God has been with you these past forty years, and you have lacked nothing.”
