And I will require a penalty for your lifeblood;  I will require it from any animal  and from any human; if someone murders a fellow human, I will require that person’s life.


Now the whole clan has risen up against your servant and said, “Hand over the one who killed his brother so we may put him to death for the life of the brother he murdered. We will eliminate the heir! ” They would extinguish my one remaining ember by not preserving my husband’s name or posterity on earth.’


If a person schemes and wilfully  acts against his neighbour to murder him, you must take him from my altar to be put to death.


But if someone hates his neighbour, lies in ambush for him, attacks him, and strikes him fatally, and flees to one of these cities,


Do not look on him with pity but purge from Israel the guilt of shedding innocent blood, and you will prosper.


“The one who secretly kills his neighbour is cursed.” And all the people will say, “Amen! ”
