Whether it was two days, a month, or longer,  the Israelites camped and did not set out as long as the cloud stayed over the tabernacle. But when it was lifted, they set out.


because it isn’t you speaking, but the Spirit   of your Father speaking through you.


If you then, who are evil,   know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father   give the Holy Spirit   to those who ask him? ’


For the Holy Spirit will teach you at that very hour what must be said.’


And look, I am sending you   what my Father promised.   As for you, stay in the city   until you are empowered   , from on high.’


And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counsellor   , to be with you for ever.


‘When the Counsellor   comes, the one I will send to you from the Father   #– #the Spirit of truth   who proceeds from the Father #– #he will testify about me.


After saying this, he breathed on them  and said,  ‘Receive the Holy Spirit.


He said this about the Spirit.  Those who believed in Jesus were going to receive the Spirit,  for the Spirit  had not yet been given  because Jesus had not yet been glorified.


not by all the people, but by us whom God appointed as witnesses, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.


Therefore, since he has been exalted to the right hand of God  and has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit,  he has poured out  what you both see and hear.
