So Zadok and Abiathar returned the ark of God to Jerusalem and stayed there.


Joab said, ‘I’m not going to waste time with you! ’ He then took three spears  in his hand and thrust them into Absalom’s chest. While Absalom was still alive in the oak tree,


ten young men who were Joab’s armour-bearers surrounded Absalom, struck him, and killed him.


But Absalom, the man we anointed over us, has died in battle. So why do you say nothing about restoring the king? ’


Suddenly, all the men of Israel came to the king. They asked him, ‘Why did our brothers, the men of Judah, take you away secretly and transport the king and his household across the Jordan, along with all of David’s men? ’


Then the king appointed Benaiah son of Jehoiada in Joab’s place over the army,  and he appointed the priest Zadok in Abiathar’s place.


In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.


Therefore, we are ambassadors  for Christ, since God is making his appeal through us. We plead on Christ’s behalf,  ‘Be reconciled to God.’


It is not that we don’t have the right  to support, but we did it to make ourselves an example to you so that you would imitate  us.
