About three months later Judah was told, ‘Your daughter-in-law, Tamar, has been acting like a prostitute, and now she is pregnant.’ ‘Bring her out,’ Judah said, ‘and let her be burned to death! ’


Now a traveller came to the rich man, but the rich man could not bring himself to take one of his own sheep or cattle to prepare for the traveller who had come to him. Instead, he took the poor man’s lamb and prepared it for his guest.


The king told the woman, ‘Go home. I will issue a command on your behalf.’


But he turned and rebuked them,


Therefore, every one of you  , who judges is without excuse.  For when you judge another,  you condemn yourself, since you, the judge, do the same things.


As surely as the Lord lives who saves Israel, even if it is because of my son Jonathan, he must die! ’ Not one of the troops answered him.


Every day Jesse’s son lives on earth you and your kingship are not secure. Now send for him and bring him to me #– #he must die! ’


What you have done is not good. As the Lord lives, all of you deserve to die  since you didn’t protect your lord, the Lord’s anointed.  Now look around; where are the king’s spear and water jug that were by his head? ’
