Whoever sheds human blood, by humans his blood will be shed, for God made humans in his image.


Then the priest Jehoiada  ordered the commanders of hundreds  in charge of the army, ‘Take her out between the ranks, and put to death by the sword anyone who follows her,’ for the priest had said, ‘She is not to be put to death in the Lord’s temple.’


So they arrested her, and she went by the entrance of the Horse Gate  to the king’s palace, where they put her to death.


Each of the priests made repairs above the Horse Gate,  each opposite his own house.


The whole valley #– #the corpses, the ashes, and all the fields as far as the Kidron Valley  to the corner of the Horse Gate  to the east #– #will be holy to the Lord. It will never be uprooted or demolished again.’


‘If a man kills anyone, he must be put to death.


For you will be judged by the same standard with which you judge others, and you will be measured by the same measure you use.


For judgement is without mercy to the one who has not shown mercy.  Mercy triumphs over judgement.


Adoni-bezek said, ‘Seventy kings with their thumbs and big toes cut off used to pick up scraps  under my table. God has repaid me for what I have done.’ They brought him to Jerusalem, and he died there.
