Furthermore, from the day King Artaxerxes  appointed me to be their governor in the land of Judah #– #from the twentieth year until his thirty-second year, twelve years   #– #I and my associates never ate from the food allotted to the governor.


Then Moses became angry and said to the Lord, ‘Don’t respect their offering. I have not taken one donkey from them or mistreated a single one of them.’


And he became the father of the circumcised, who are not only circumcised but who also follow in the footsteps of the faith our father Abraham had while he was still uncircumcised.


What do you want? Should I come to you with a rod,  or in love and a spirit of gentleness?


Make room for us in your hearts. We have wronged no one, corrupted  no one, taken advantage of no one.


But God, who comforts the downcast,  comforted us by the arrival of Titus,


So we urged Titus that just as he had begun, so he should also complete among you this act of grace.


For you were called to this, because Christ also suffered  for you, leaving you an example,  that you should follow  in his steps.
