They served him by himself, his brothers by themselves, and the Egyptians who were eating with him by themselves, because Egyptians could not eat with Hebrews, since that is detestable to them.


‘But when you are invited, go and sit in the lowest place, so that when the one who invited you comes, he will say to you, “Friend, move up higher.” You will then be honoured   in the presence of all the other guests.


Saul responded, ‘Am I not a Benjaminite  from the smallest of Israel’s tribes and isn’t my clan the least important of all the clans of the Benjaminite tribe?  So why have you said something like this to me? ’


Then Samuel said to the cook, ‘Get the portion of meat that I gave you and told you to set aside.’
