Then Elijah took the boy, brought him down from the upstairs room into the house, and gave him to his mother.  Elijah said, ‘Look, your son is alive.’


Once, as the Israelites were burying a man, suddenly they saw a raiding party, so they threw the man into Elisha’s tomb. When he touched Elisha’s bones, the man revived and stood up!


Then he came up and touched the open coffin, and the pallbearers stopped. And he said, ‘Young man, I tell you, get up! ’


So he  took her by the hand  and called out, ‘Child, get up! ’


After he said this, he shouted with a loud voice, ‘Lazarus, come out! ’


They brought the boy home alive and were greatly comforted.


Christ died and returned to life  for this: that he might be Lord over both the dead and the living.


See now that I alone am he; there is no God but me. I bring death and I give life; I wound and I heal. No one can rescue anyone from my power.


Women received their dead, raised to life again. Other people were tortured, not accepting release, so that they might gain a better resurrection.


But after three and a half days, the breath  of life  from God entered them, and they stood on their feet. Great fear fell on those who saw them.


The Lord brings death and gives life; he sends some down to Sheol, and he raises others up.
