Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore is my wrath poured out upon this place, and it shall not be quenched.


I have sewed sackcloth upon my skin,\par\tab And have laid my horn in the dust.


There will I make the horn of David to bud:\par\tab I have ordained a lamp for mine anointed.


Why drawest thou back thy hand, even thy right hand?\par\tab {\i Pluck it} out of thy bosom {\i and} consume {\i them}.\par


All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off;\par\tab But the horns of the righteous shall be lifted up.\par

Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his wrath is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken asunder by him.


For, behold, the day cometh, it burneth as a furnace; and all the proud, and all that work wickedness, shall be stubble; and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith Jehovah of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.
