I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings of old:


To understand a proverb, and a figure; The words of the wise, and their dark sayings.


Then said I, Ah Lord GOD they say of me, Is he not a speaker of parables?


And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.


with him will I speak mouth to mouth, even manifestly, and not in dark speeches; and the form of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant, against Moses?


And he took up his parable, and said, From Aram hath Balak brought me, The king of Moab from the mountains of the East: Come, curse me Jacob, And come, defy Israel.
