Portions were taken to them from Joseph’s table, but Benjamin’s portion was five times as much as any of theirs. So they drank and were merry with him.

and wine to gladden the human heart, oil to make the face shine and bread to strengthen the human heart.


Feasts are made for laughter, wine gladdens life, and money meets every need.


There is nothing better for mortals than to eat and drink and find enjoyment in their toil. This also, I saw, is from the hand of God,


So I commend enjoyment, for there is nothing better for people under the sun than to eat and drink and enjoy themselves, for this will go with them in their toil through the days of life that God gives them under the sun.


Go, eat your bread with enjoyment and drink your wine with a merry heart, for God has long ago approved what you do.


So, whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.


Do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,


And when their hearts were merry, they said, “Call Samson, and let him entertain us.” So they called Samson out of the prison, and he performed for them. They made him stand between the pillars,


While they were enjoying themselves, the men of the city, a perverse lot, surrounded the house and started pounding on the door. They said to the old man, the master of the house, “Bring out the man who came into your house, so that we may have intercourse with him.”


So the two men sat and ate and drank together, and the young woman’s father said to the man, “Why not spend the night and enjoy yourself?”


When the man with his concubine and his servant got up to leave, his father-in-law, the young woman’s father, said to him, “Look, the day has worn on until it is almost evening. Spend the night. See, the day has drawn to a close. Spend the night here and enjoy yourself. Tomorrow you can get up early in the morning for your journey and go home.”


So she went down to the threshing floor and did just as her mother-in-law had instructed her.


At midnight the man was startled and turned over, and there, lying at his feet, was a woman!
