Judah and Israel were as numerous as the sand by the sea; they ate and drank and were happy.

On that day: A pleasant vineyard—sing about it!


In days to come Jacob shall take root; Israel shall blossom and put forth shoots and fill the whole world with fruit.


The surviving remnant of the house of Judah shall again take root downward and bear fruit upward,


He dug it and cleared it of stones and planted it with choice vines; he built a watchtower in the midst of it and hewed out a wine vat in it; he expected it to yield grapes, but it yielded rotten grapes.


You plant them, and they take root; they grow and bring forth fruit; you are near in their mouths yet far from their hearts.


Yet I planted you as a choice vine from the purest stock. How then did you turn degenerate and become a wild vine?


I sent swarms of hornets ahead of you that drove out before you the two kings of the Amorites; it was not by your sword or by your bow.
