When God began to create the heavens and the earth,


And God said, “Let there be lights in the dome of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years,


So they made their father drink wine that night also, and the younger rose and lay with him, and he did not know when she lay down or when she rose.


The Lord dealt with Sarah as he had said, and the Lord did for Sarah as he had promised.


“But will God indeed dwell with mortals on earth? Even heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain you, much less this house that I have built!


how much less a mortal, who is a maggot, and a human being, who is a worm!”


What are humans, that you make so much of them, that you set your mind on them,


Remember us, O Lord, when you show favor to your people; help us when you deliver them,


who by understanding made the heavens, for his steadfast love endures forever;


the moon and stars to rule over the night, for his steadfast love endures forever;


O Lord, what are humans that you regard them, or mortals that you think of them?


Do not put your trust in princes, in mortals, in whom there is no help.


Day to day pours forth speech, and night to night declares knowledge.


How long, you people, shall my honor suffer shame? How long will you love vain words and seek after lies? Selah


But let your hand be upon the one at your right hand, the one whom you made strong for yourself.


For all the gods of the peoples are idols, but the Lord made the heavens.


The people believed, and when they heard that the Lord had given heed to the Israelites and that he had seen their misery, they bowed down and worshiped.


All the nations are as nothing before him; they are accounted by him as less than nothing and emptiness.


I, I am he who comforts you; why then are you afraid of a mere mortal who must die, a human being who fades like grass?


Then he said to me, “Have you seen this, O mortal? You will see still greater abominations than these.”


And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.”


“Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for he has looked favorably on his people and redeemed them.


They will crush you to the ground, you and your children within you, and they will not leave within you one stone upon another, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation from God.”


Conduct yourselves honorably among the gentiles, so that, though they malign you as evildoers, they may see your honorable deeds and glorify God when he comes to judge.
