Terrifying sounds are in their ears; in prosperity the destroyer will come upon them.


Terrors frighten them on every side and chase them at their heels.


that the exulting of the wicked is short and the joy of the godless is but for a moment?


Sooner than your pots can feel the heat of thorns, whether green or ablaze, may he sweep them away!


The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.


For no one can anticipate one’s time. Like fish taken in a cruel net or like birds caught in a snare, so mortals are snared at a time of calamity, when it suddenly falls upon them.


therefore this iniquity shall become for you like a break in a high wall, bulging out and about to collapse, whose crash comes suddenly, in an instant;


But evil shall come upon you, which you cannot charm away; disaster shall fall upon you, which you will not be able to ward off, and ruin shall come on you suddenly, of which you know nothing.


Then the king’s face turned pale, and his thoughts terrified him. His limbs gave way, and his knees knocked together.


“Separate yourselves from this congregation, so that I may consume them in a moment.”


this man, handed over to you according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of those outside the law.


When they say, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them, as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and there will be no escape!


they will stand far off, in fear of her torment, and say, “Alas, alas, the great city, Babylon, the mighty city! For in one hour your judgment has come.”


About ten days later the Lord struck Nabal, and he died.


Immediately Saul fell full length on the ground filled with fear because of the words of Samuel, and there was no strength in him, for he had eaten nothing all day and all night.
