But a certain man drew his bow and unknowingly struck the king of Israel between the scale armor and the breastplate; so he said to the driver of his chariot, “Turn around and carry me out of the battle, for I am wounded.”


For the arrows of the Almighty are in me; my spirit drinks their poison; the terrors of God are arrayed against me.


And he sent out his arrows and scattered them; he flashed forth lightnings and routed them.


shooting from ambush at the blameless; they shoot suddenly and without fear.


How they are destroyed in a moment, swept away utterly by terrors!


One who is often reproved, yet remains stubborn, will suddenly be broken beyond healing.


on such a one calamity will descend suddenly, in a moment, damage beyond repair.


This is an evil in all that happens under the sun, that the same fate comes to everyone. Moreover, the hearts of humans are full of evil; madness is in their hearts while they live, and after that they go to the dead.


therefore this iniquity shall become for you like a break in a high wall, bulging out and about to collapse, whose crash comes suddenly, in an instant;


The heart is devious above all else; it is perverse— who can understand it?


Then two will be in the field; one will be taken, and one will be left.


I will heap disasters upon them, spend my arrows against them:


I will make my arrows drunk with blood, and my sword shall devour flesh— with the blood of the slain and the captives, from the long-haired enemy.’
