“And you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve him with single mind and willing heart, for the Lord searches every mind and understands every plan and thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will abandon you forever.


I know, my God, that you search the heart and take pleasure in uprightness; in the uprightness of my heart I have freely offered all these things, and now I have seen your people who are present here offering freely and joyously to you.


But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I shall come out like gold.


The murderer rises at dusk to kill the poor and needy and in the night is like a thief.


The Lord tests the righteous and the wicked, and his soul hates the lover of violence.


I have sworn an oath and confirmed it, to observe your righteous ordinances.


O Lord, you have searched me and known me.

Those who guard their mouths preserve their lives; those who open wide their lips come to ruin.


But you, O Lord, know me; you see me and test me; my heart is with you. Pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and set them apart for the day of slaughter.


In those days and at that time, says the Lord, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought, and there shall be none, and the sins of Judah, and none shall be found, for I will pardon the remnant that I have spared.


For they are kindled like an oven; their heart burns within them; all night their anger smolders; in the morning it blazes like a flaming fire.


Woe to those who devise wickedness and evil deeds on their beds! When the morning dawns, they perform it, because it is in their power.

But who can endure the day of his coming, and who can stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner’s fire and like washers’ soap;

During the night Paul had a vision: there stood a man of Macedonia pleading with him and saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.”


I am not aware of anything against myself, but I am not thereby acquitted. It is the Lord who judges me.


Indeed, this is our boast, the testimony of our conscience: we have behaved in the world with holiness and godly sincerity, not by earthly wisdom but by the grace of God—and all the more toward you.


For all of us make many mistakes. Anyone who makes no mistakes in speaking is mature, able to keep the whole body in check with a bridle.


so that the genuineness of your faith—being more precious than gold that, though perishable, is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.


This very day your eyes have seen how the Lord gave you into my hand in the cave, and some urged me to kill you, but I spared you. I said, ‘I will not raise my hand against my lord, for he is the Lord’s anointed.’


May the Lord judge between me and you! May the Lord avenge me on you, but my hand shall not be against you.


The Lord forbid that I should raise my hand against the Lord’s anointed, but now take the spear that is at his head and the water jar, and let us go.”


The Lord rewards everyone for his righteousness and his faithfulness, for the Lord gave you into my hand today, but I would not raise my hand against the Lord’s anointed.
