I was blameless before him, and I kept myself from guilt.


Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayer that is made in this place.


let your ear be attentive and your eyes open to hear the prayer of your servant that I now pray before you day and night for your servants, the Israelites, confessing the sins of the Israelites, which we have sinned against you. Both I and my family have sinned.


though there is no violence in my hands, and my prayer is pure.


Do not hide your face from me in the day of my distress. Incline your ear to me; answer me speedily in the day when I call.


I know that the Lord maintains the cause of the needy and executes justice for the poor.


With my voice I cry to the Lord; with my voice I make supplication to the Lord.


Listen to my cry, for I am brought very low. Save me from my persecutors, for they are too strong for me.


Hear my prayer, O Lord; give ear to my supplications in your faithfulness; answer me in your righteousness.


The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.


The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands he recompensed me.


As soon as they heard of me, they obeyed me; foreigners came cringing to me.


Vindicate me, O God, and defend my cause against an ungodly people; from those who are deceitful and unjust, deliver me!


Listen to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to you I pray.


But surely, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life.


He will redeem me unharmed from the battle that I wage, for many are arrayed against me.


Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer.


From the end of the earth I call to you, when my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I,


But truly God has listened; he has heard the words of my prayer.


The Lord judges the peoples; judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness and according to the integrity that is in me.


Behold our shield, O God; look on the face of your anointed.


Incline your ear, O Lord, and answer me, for I am poor and needy.


Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer; listen to my cry of supplication.


For my soul is full of troubles, and my life draws near to Sheol.


The Lord said: Because these people draw near with their mouths and honor me with their lips, while their hearts are far from me and their worship of me is a human commandment learned by rote,


Yet for all this her false sister Judah did not return to me with her whole heart but only in pretense, says the Lord.


‘This people honors me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me;


When Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him, he said of him, “Here is truly an Israelite in whom there is no deceit!”


Beloved, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have boldness before God,
