Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit.

I said, “I will guard my ways that I may not sin with my tongue; I will keep a muzzle on my mouth as long as the wicked are in my presence.”

I was silent and still; I held my peace to no avail; my distress grew worse;

My mouth is filled with your praise and with your glory all day long.

Put no trust in a friend; have no confidence in a loved one; guard the doors of your mouth from her who lies in your embrace,

If any think they are religious and do not bridle their tongues but deceive their hearts, their religion is worthless.

For all of us make many mistakes. Anyone who makes no mistakes in speaking is mature, able to keep the whole body in check with a bridle.
